Making Healthy Eating a Priority in Schools and Communities.

The state of obesity for youth in this country is alarming!   According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.  Since 1980, the obesity prevalence among children and adolescents has almost tripled.  According to data from the Pediatric Nutrition Surveillance System,1 of 7 low-income, preschool-aged children is obese.  Obese children are more likely to become obese adults.

And the very places where our children learn – our schools – could really use some help in setting up healthy lunches and eating programs.

We cannot tackle the rising cost of healthcare and obesity rates without consistent education that starts with our youth and our communities.

Keys to Abundant Life, Inc. is a health and nutrition consulting company.  We provide healthy cooking classes and health and nutrition workshops to students, staff, and parents in head start programs, preschools, elementary, middle, and high schools, colleges, universities, summer camps, temporary housing sites, and municipal housing authority sites.

Our programs cater to all ages from 4-year-olds all the way through to adults. We focus on creating fun classes that allow participants to experience healthy foods/nutrition, self-care, physical activity, knowledge of the body, and healthy living.

Currently, our programs are in schools and sites in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Yonkers, and the Bronx. Our goal is to provide our programs to every school and community in the nation.
